The last round of 16 matches tskes , Wednesday , when another European heavy weight , Borrussia Dortmund battles this time , the only remaining North American team Monterrrey ,at the on going FIFA Club World Cup 2025 at the Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta ,, for the round of 16 matches and a spot in the quarter finals with Real Madrid who edged out another European giant , Juventus by 1-0. yesterday.
The Bundesliga outfit topped Group F to earn a date with Sergio Ramos ‘s Mexican team Monterrey .
While their opponents today happily accepted the silverware in group E, behind the already eliminated Inter Milan.

After a superb outing in last seasons Bundesliga matches , where they won their last five games , Dortmund are yet to suffer a defeat in the on going Club World Cup.
As expected , the 2023 /24 champions league runners up were able to fend off challenges to top group F. but seven points from nine matches did not tell the complete story for Dortmund .
A goalless draw with Fluiminense of Brazill then edged out South Afifcan Giants , Mamelodi Sundowns in a seven goals thriller , 4-3 . Dortmund went ahead to dismiss minnows Ulsan HD by just one strike , 1-0 ,courtesy of Jobe Bellingham s first assist which , left back Daniel Svensson was the benefiiciary as he struck home the winner which was enough to seal victory and ended group stage campaigns and was a case of a job weldone for Nicki Kovac s men .
Despite their sluggish start in the campaign , the Bundesliga giants proudly head into the round of 16 knockout games with a 10 match unbeaten run .Their last loss was to absentee to the Club World Cup, Barcelona who humbled them 4-0 in the first leg quarter finals of last seasons Champions league .

Old timers in the former Club Wiorkd Cup format , mammoth , Monterrey of Mexican also made it through the round of 16 without a defeat to finish as runners up behind Inter Milan .
A gentle man s draw against the Nerrrazzuri s in their opening game as well as another goalless draw with the Argentine outfit , River Plate and with a heavily contested last group games against Urawa Red Devils , where La Pantilla s fate was not in their hands as they were 2 points adrift of River Plate in the group , but Inter Milan did the job for them by dismissing inexperienced , River Plate , 2-0 , which gave the Domenec Torrents mens opportunity to leap frog the South American team by their 4-0 destruction of Urawa Red Devils who were pummelled within 540 seconds .
Goals between 30 and 39 minutes saw ,Nelson Deossa , German Bertersme ,and former Porto attacker , Jesus Corona ,hhittijg the net of fhe minows , while Bertersme who scored a brace , made it 4-0 to complete the riot act against Urawa Red Devils ‘s flat footed defenders who could not clear their defensive lines on time .
A historic match indeed for the first time , a Mexican team meeting a German side in top flight football campaign , while same.goes for Dortmund who will experience a show down with a Liga MX for the first time .

Absentees in their last group games against minnows , Urawa Red Devils like Jorge Rodriguez who sat out in their last match on account of accumulated yellow card will be part of the squad .
Based on their last merciless win against Urawa , Torrent , is not likely to make changes on a winning side , hence spelling bad news or ex La liga stars , Lucas Ocampo , Jorgio Caneles both of whom were on the dugout .
Veteran La Liga Star , Sergio Ramos will still wear the captains band and comnad affairs in the heart of the defence

For Dortmund , a bit consolation for the imminent loss of Jamie Byrce – Gittens with the five star performance of Bellingham in a Dortmund shirt
Gittens being in his way to Chelsea next season .and was not in loved in their win against Uksan , but Julian Brandt substituted him despite breaking a bone in their match against Fluiminense .
Brandt may not be rushed from the start , even at that perfect substitutes abound in the BVB squad to save the day , Geovanno Reyna , Julien Duranville and Maximilian Beier are all available for selection in the attack.

Predictions –
With a well fortified rear men , BVB will not have much problems to contain , the threat of a Sergio Ramos well known set pieces .
We may not know the version of the Borrussia Dortmund swuad that will face the Mexicans .
All the same Nicki Kovac men s will only need one strike to scale through , in a heavily contested match .
We may also experience an extra time and possibly , sudden death penalties at the end of hostilities .
